Fun with a purpose in Minnesota

One of the most impressive community schemes that are in place in the Twin Cities metro area is Macy' Glamorama. I love this event because of the charitable causes that are attached to it. You get to see an amazing fashion show but with a purpose behind the whole thing. The most recent event had some great fun and good causes.
One of the good causes that they have been promoting is the Children's Cancer Research Fund. Aside from the charity, there is the small matter of the fashion through the ages. We all know that the eighties had some really horror shows, but the seventies can compete too. If you want to get some nostalgia then this is the place to be. I mean you can get away with all the fashion disasters that you used to covet in those great years.
I was looking at some of the slides from the recent event. The highlights included those all important leg warmers. I can even begin to see the treadmill when I think of the pink horrors that we used to put on. The boots are a favorite. Sexy attire can take you back to those innocent days of jogging and Jimmy Carter. The sportswear from Tommy Hilfiger is quite wearable even by today's exacting standards. I was struck by the psychedelic look that was part of the show.

As for the celebrity factor, this was the place to be. The eighties are nothing without the Material girl. Madonna's line was also on display and you could hear those hits that define that era. In short this was all about celebrity and charity. If you are ever in the Minnesota area and are looking for something interesting to do then this is the August event for you. For me this was one of the choices for the season and I was delighted to note that they were doing it on an annual basis.
As a really serious aspect to this show is the children's charity that helps the little ones that have been afflicted with cancer. These are organizations that need your support. You can make any contribution that you like but the monthly debit plan is very convenient for them and reduces the costs for the organization. As an additional benefit to you, it is possible to increase your tax relief.
